INTERLACHEN, Fla. -- An argument over a cigarette between two brothers in Interlachen took a violent turn Sunday when one of them pulled out a knife, deputies said.
Deputies were called to a home in the 200 block of Sleepy Hollow Drive Sunday afternoon following reports of a domestic dispute involving a stabbing, according to a release posted to the Facebook page for the Putnam County Sheriff's Office. That's where deputies met 52-year-old Ronald Allen Cormier, who told them his brother 54-year-old Edward Paul Cormier had slashed him during a fight over a cigarette.
After interviewing both men and an independent witness, it was determined that Ronald Cormier had been holding the blade and had accidentally cut himself during the fray, deputies said.
Edward Cormier was taken to the Putnam County Jail on a charge of domestic battery, where he's being held without bond.
A charge of filing a false report against Ronald Cormier was forwarded to the State Attorney's Office, the release said.
