JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A 44-year-old plead guilty to Wednesday to using a minor child to produce images depicting child pornography.

Christopher Richard Cloonan, 44, a registered sex offender, was arrested March 12 in Jacksonville after he made several online exchanges with an undercover officer with the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department, according to a release from the United States Attorneys Office. The officer posted an ad on a website known to be frequented by individuals with an interest in children and incest. Cloonan responded to the ad expressing interest and experience in sexual activity with children then sent two photos.

In the online exchange with the officer, Cloonan wrote, "Society is coming down so hard on 'child molesters' etc. now, we are in danger everyday as lovers of children are not seen as different from those who hurt and kill them."

A search warrant was executed at Cloonan's home and at least 85 images of child pornography on his cell phone, mostly depicting infants and toddlers.

Cloonan was convicted of two counts of attempted sexual battery on child less than 12 in November 1991 in Charlotte County and faces the mandatory sentence of life imprisonment.

The case was investigation by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department and the FBI.
