CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. -- A Forest Park man is behind bars after allegedly leaving his 3-month-old daughter inside of his car while going to court.
Courtney Lamont Kidd, 37, was arrested at the Clayton County courthouse Monday afternoon and charged with felony child cruelty.
He had his first court appearance Tuesday at 10 a.m., where his bond was set at $20,000. He is also not allowed to have contact with his daughter.
A source inside the Clayton County Courthouse told 11Alive's Blayne Alexander that the child was in the car for a short period of time before a good Samaritan spotted her, taking it upon herself to get the child out of the car. The woman then took the baby inside of the courthouse, where she was treated.
Monday evening, Alexander spoke with Kidd's mother at their Forest Park home. The mother declined to tell the child's name, but said the baby was in her care and "doing just fine."
According to the GA Department of Corrections website, Kidd has been incarcerated three times since 2003 for charges including cocaine possession.
A Cobb County man, Ross Harris, has been charged with the death of his toddler son. Harris' son, Cooper Harris, had been left locked inside a car for more than 7 hours on a 90-degree day last month.
