JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Two teens were shot in drive-bys, on the same block, less than three hours apart early Sunday morning.
The first shooting occurred in the 1100 block of Hart Street, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. The 17-year-old victim was standing in a front yard around midnight when multiple shots were fired in his direction from a car driving by. The teen was hit in the leg and was taken to UF Health Jacksonville by a family member with non-life threatening injuries. The car involved was described as a black Dodge, model unknown.
A few hours later, just before 3 a.m., JSO received a second call about a person being shot in the 1200 block of Hart Street. The 17-year-old victim was standing in a yard, about 180 feet away from the scene of the first shooting, when he was struck by gunfire coming from a moving car firing in his direction. The teen was hit in the leg and a nearby home was also struck by gun shots. The teen was taken to UF Health Jacksonville with non-life threatening injuries. The car involved in the second shooting was described as a dark Buick, model unknown.
A suspect or suspects have not been identified and an investigation is ongoing.
The shootings come less than 72 hours after a 14-year-old was shot in the head leaving a community center. Police believe that incident was also a drive-by.
