PALATKA, Fla. -- A Putnam County man is facing multiple charges in connection with a June residential burglary.

Lee Allen Sykes, 25, was taken into custody July 10 after investigators were able to tie him to a burglary in the 1900 block of Roselle Ave. on June 19, according to a release from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

The investigation of the crime scene revealed physical evidence that linked allegedly Sykes to the crime and eventually led to the warrant being issued for his arrest, the release detailed.

Sheriff Jeff Hardy said "Good, sound police work by the responding patrol deputies led directly to solving this crime and to making this arrest. I commend Deputy Brandee Smith for the careful and thorough manner in which she conducted her investigation".

Sykes was booked into the Putnam County Jail on charges of larceny and burglary and is currently being held on a bond of $30,000.
