JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A nighttime armed robbery at a Southside fast-food joint on Independence Day might have been thwarted by a timely phone call from an eye witness.

Just after 10 p.m., a masked man went inside the Sonic, located in the 9500 block of N. Regency Square Boulevard, and held up the business at gunpoint, police said. That's when, police said, he left the business and took off in a compact car that had been parked across the street.

A witness at the drive-through saw it all unfold and called 911, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. The vehicle was located and stop a short time later.

Everyone inside the car was taken into custody for questioning, police said.
