JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Jacksonville man is recovering in the hospital after he was wounded in a shooting on the Northside late Friday, police said.

Officers were called to the intersection of Fraleigh Avenue and Ashford Street just after 10:30 p.m., where they found a man who had been shot in the hand, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

A vehicle approached him as he was walking, the victim told police, and after words were exchanged, someone inside the car opened fire.

The victim was taken to UF Health Jacksonville.

So far, police have not released a motive or a suspect in this case.
