JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is looking for two suspects wanted in connection to a fatal shooting on the city's west side.

Officers responded to the 9800 block of Normandy Boulevard around 9 p.m. Sunday for reports of gunfire inside the Normandy Estates mobile home park.

The family identified the victim as 38-year-old Teodoro Rico. He was found with at least one gunshot wound inside a trailer.

Officers told First Coast News on scene that two male suspects attempted to rob the victim outside a trailer before the victim ran inside.

Officers added that the suspects then invaded the the trailer, where a struggle ensued before the victim was fatally shot. At least one other person, who lived in the trailer, was inside at the time, officers said.

Rico's brother-in-law, Juan Gonzalez, remembered him as a loving and devoted husband and father of two who worked hard to provide for his family.

"He was a real nice person. We worked together," Gonzalez said.

He said he believed Rico was no the intended target of the two suspects. He said his brother-in-law went next door to try and help his neighbor after hearing some commotion.

"He was trying to help our neighbor when they were coming, but they got the gun. Then, the shots," he described.

Neighbor Javier Agulaer told First Coast News he spotted the suspects walking around the neighborhood hours before the violence erupted.

"We watched the two people walk around the entire place, maybe 20 years old," he said.

Now, friends and family are preparing for the difficulties that lie ahead and mourning what they call a tremendous loss.

Gonzalez said, "My niece and nephew are asking for their daddy." A community meeting has also been scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to address what neighbors all ongoing violence.

Neighbor Armando Quintanilla said this kind of violence is not uncommon for the neighborhood.

"Gunshots as usual. It's a daily basis. (It) happens here all the time. This is first time media comes here and hears about it, but for us, this is a daily basis kind of thing," he said.

Quintanilla said Rico was a family man with a wife and kids who worked hard and kept to himself. Officers did not release any theories for a motive behind the robbery.

The suspects are described as two African-American men between the ages of 20 and 25 with dreadlocks. One was last seen wearing basketball jersey.
