JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is looking for suspects after a double shooting overnight Tuesday.
Officers were called to University Plaza Apartments in the 2100 block of Doctor Roy Baker St. around 1:45 a.m.
Lt. Daniel Kenney told First Coast News two women in their 20's suffered non-life threatening gunshot wounds.
Kenney said the victims were sitting inside a parked car when a group of men fired multiple shots at the vehicle before running away.
One woman was grazed in the head by a bullet, Kenney said. The other was shot in the leg and grazed in the head, he added.
The woman remained in the car, Kenney said, and drove themselves to UF Health Jacksonville, which is located next door to the apartment complex.
One of their relatives, who only wants to be identified as "Jay," told First Coast News she is angry at what she called senseless violence.
"I'm mad. Ain't really too much you can say when your family members get shot. Retaliation is going to happen. It's sad to say that, but it's always going to be an eye for an eye. You can't just shoot at somebody and think you're going to get away with it," she said.
Kenney said he believed the suspects were captured on surveillance video. He said detectives are using the footage to try and make an arrest.
The apartment complex is routinely guarded by off-duty officers with the sheriff's office, but Kenney didn't know if they were present at the time of the shootings.
