ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- A 24-year-old facing aggravated stalking charges died Wednesday night after a suicide attempt in jail Friday evening.

Andrew Dane Dandurand was found by corrections deputies in his cell unresponsive and not breathing around 5:50 p.m. Friday, according to a release from the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office. Dandurand was on his knees, the release detailed, with a sheet around his neck.

St. Johns County Fire Rescue responded and transported Dandurand to Flagler Hospital in critical condition. Dandurand died of self-inflicted injuries six days later.

Dandurand was behind bars following a June 15 incident which involved allegedly traveling to an ex-girlfriend's house with plans to kill her.

The Flagler County Sheriff's Office responded to a tip received Sunday that Dandurand had allegedly armed himself with a possible stolen gun and was allegedly planning to kill a former girlfriend, her current boyfriend and himself, according to the SJSO. Law enforcement also learned that the suspect possibly had an assault rifle in his possession.

Dandurand was located about a mile from the victim's home in St. Johns County where he allegedly attempted to flee from a traffic stop, the release detailed. Deputies said Dandurand drove recklessly over an embankment, ran a red light and drove southbound in the northbound lane on U.S. 1 until he was forced into a ditch by law enforcement vehicles. Dandurand was secured without further incident.

Dandurand was allegedly found in possession of a fully loaded SKS assault rifle that is believed to have been stolen in a Flagler County burglary.

Deputies responded to the victim's home in St. Johns County where she was located unharmed, but was aware of the threats made against her.

Dandurand was facing charges of fleeing and aggravated stalking with additional charges pending further investigation and was being held on $500,000 bond. According to court records, Dandurand was scheduled to be in court August 4 for a felony arraignment hearing.
