Local authorities now believe two reported robberies may have been connected. Gannett

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Local authorities now believe two reported robberies may have been connected.

Around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to a home on Brooker Road for a male victim who had been shot in the arm.

Sgt. C.R. Short said on the scene the shooting happened after a robbery attempt by three unknown suspects.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to Sgt. Short. No one was arrested.

Then, around 10:45 p.m., the police responded to another reported robbery and shooting in the 2100 block of Caljon Rd.

The department said another man was shot in the hip after an unknown suspect attempted to rob him. The suspect in the case also got away.

But early Thursday morning, First Coast News learned in an e-mailed recap of the incidents that officers now think at least one suspect might have been involved in both.

However, no suspect descriptions have been made available. Anyone with information is urged to call the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office or First Coast Crimestoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
