BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- The sister of the teen who shot and killed 13-month-old Antonio Santiago pleaded guilty Wednesday to tampering with evidence.

Sabrina Elkins, 20, admitted to helping her mother throw the pistol her brother used to murder Santiago, in a pond.

Karimah Elkins, the mother of De'Marquise and Sabrina, was convicted in March of evidence tampering after it was found that she helped get rid of the pistol used in the shooting. She was sentenced to a maximum of 10 years in prison by Superior Court Judge Stephen Kelley.

According to our news partner Florida Times-Union, Sabrina Elkins was told that she could serve one to 10 years in prison but agreed to defense lawyer Frank Aspinwall's request that a pre-sentencing investigation be conducted before Kelley decides on her sentence.

De'Marquise was found guilty of killing Santiago in his stroller while robbing Sherry West, the toddler's mother.
