LAKE CITY, Fla. -- A robbery and battery suspect is behind bars after he was found hiding under a trailer.

Paul Balkcom, 45, was found hiding under a trailer after he allegedly forced his way into a woman's hotel room May 7th.

The alleged incident occurred at a hotel in the 2900 block of West US Highway 90, where Balkcom allegedly demanded oral sex and was refused, he then grabbed the suspect around her neck and pushed her onto the bed. When the victim screamed Balkcom allegedly took her wallet and fled according to a release from the Lake City Police Department.

A perimeter was established near the hotel and a K-9 was used to track Balkcom, the release detailed. Balkcom was found in a nearby parking lot, hiding under a trailer, but refused to come out. The K-9 was released and Balkcom was bitten, according to the LCPD release.

Balkcom was removed from under the trailer and arrested. He was treated for his bite injury at the Lake City Medical Center and then transported to the Columbia County Jail.

Balkcom is charged with battery, robbery and drug equipment possession and is currently being held on a $7,000 bond.
