LAKE CITY, Fla. -- A 29-year-old man was charged with producing and uploading child pornography on the internet, according to the office of United States Attorney A. Lee Bentley, III.

Robert Lamar Starling was arrested after investigators discovered Starling had reportedly uploaded several images of child pornography to the internet, using a photo sharing site.

Law enforcement officers, along with FBI agents, executed a federal search warrant at Starling's residence May 1. At the time, Starling was not home but he was later located at the Suwannee Music Park and Campground in Live Oak.

Starling told officials during an interview that he had produced pornographic images of several prepubescent children and that he searched for and downloaded child pornography via the Internet.

In addition, Starling provided the identities of five prepubescent children with whom he produced child pornography. He estimated that he may have around 5,000 still images and 7,000 videos of child pornography.

After a preview of his laptop, officials discovered that it contained over 600 videos displaying child pornography.

If Starling is convicted, he will face a mandatory minimum penalty of 15 years, a potential life term of supervision and up to 30 years in federal prison.

Starling's hearing is scheduled May 8.

This case was investigated by the FBI, the Suwannee County Sheriff's Office, the Columbia County Sheriff's Office, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

This case was part of the Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Led by the United States Attorneys' Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.
