MIDDLEBURG, Fla. -- A 16-year-old girl who was reported missing Tuesday allegedly fabricated the story of her abduction, according to the Clay County Sheriff's Office.

Ankita Lavender called her father around 7:20 p.m. claiming two men grabbed and pulled her into a white truck, according to the CCSO. Her cell phone was reportedly shut off later.

Lavender was found around 10:25 p.m. by a driver on the side of Henley Road., East of Blanding Boulevard, according to the CCSO. The teen told police she had been thrown from the truck. Officers said she did not have visible injuries, but she was taken to Orange Park Medical Center to be examined for any possible injuries.

CCSO said the investigation into the cause of this fake kidnapping is ongoing.
