JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Jacksonville man is behind bars facing charges of sexual battery on a victim less than 12-years of age.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement began investigating Michael Scott Carter, 42, in late 2013 after receiving information regarding the alleged sexual battery of a child, according to a release from FDLE.
Investigators believe the crime occurred while Carter lived in Punta Gorda, Fla. Carter was booked into the Duval County Jail and is being held without bond.
Carter's case will be prosecuted by the Office of the State Attorney, 20th Judicial Circuit.
The investigation is ongoing.
