ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – One man is in custody and another is sought in connection to two car burglaries early Wednesday morning in Nocatee.
An off-duty Jacksonville Sheriff's officer allegedly saw the incident take place in the 200 block of Howland Dr. on the way home from his shift around 4:20 a.m., according to a St. Johns County Sheriff's Office press release. The second incident occurred in the 300 block of Howland Dr.
One of the suspects, 18-year-old De Vante Cody Johnson, was taken into custody at gunpoint. SJSO deputies and K-9 units arrived to the scene to look for the second suspect, who was not found.
A 2010 Honda Fit was located near the incident was seized and belong's to a relative of Johnson's, the release detailed.
Johnson is charged with two counts of burglary to a vehicle, and one count each of possession of burglary tools, petit theft, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is held in the County Jail on no bond pending a first appearance hearing.
Additional charges are pending against Johnson and other suspects as the investigation continues.
