PALATKA, Fla. – Three are in custody for allegedly making methamphetamine at local hotel.
The Palatka Police Department responded to the Budget Inn located in the 100 block of Moseley Avenue Wednesday after an employee noticed a room that was supposed to be unoccupied appeared to be occupied, according to a release from the Palatka Police Department.
Officers found the room unoccupied, but discovered what appeared to be an active meth lab. The room was immediately secured.
Further investigation led officers to believe the room had been accessed by the occupants of the adjoining room, the release detailed. The occupants were identified as Elbert Gilbert, 38, Gerald Anderson, 35 and 29-year-old Lacy Carrerras.
Officers allegedly found evidence in the adjoining room that tied the three to the meth lab next door.
All three suspects were arrested and charged with manufacture of methamphetamine, possession of listed chemicals utilized for the illegal manufacture of methamphetamine and burglary of an unoccupied structure. Carrerras was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Gilbert faces additional charges on an outstanding warrant for manufacture of methamphetamine.
The meth lab was dismantled.
