POMPANO BEACH, Fla. - The principal of a charter school in Broward County faces a rape charge after an incident last fall, according to the local sheriff's office.
Officials with the Broward County Sheriff's Office say Flagler High School principal Peter Nicholson is facing one count of sexual assault.
Deputies say Nicholson and the victim, an employee of the school, were at the high school on Oct. 26, 2013 when the incident occurred.
The victim told investigators that Nicholson had sex with her against her will.
BSO said the victim reported the attack to them on Feb. 21. The victim told deputies that she was afraid she would lose her job if she reported the rape.
BSO says for a variety of reasons victims of sexual violence delay or never report these incidents.
