Taylor went to Mexico a vibrant, happy 21-year-old. Now, his family is planning his funeral
CANCUN, Mexico — Craig Taylor was a student at Valencia College. This is the week of spring break for the school so Taylor and his brother went to Mexico as many college kids do, but on Sunday Taylor was found dead on a dirt road.
Taylor went to Mexico a vibrant, happy 21-year-old. Now, his family is planning his funeral and still trying to make sense of it all.
"He went to have some fun and you took his life away," said Jennifer Gomez, Taylor's aunt.
Taylor's family said the trouble started when he, his brother and friends went to a club Saturday night. Taylor's wallet was stolen and he was kicked out.
"Someone stole his wallet and he was trying to get it back. Because he was trying to get it back they asked him to leave the club and he did. By him leaving the club, he was separated from his brother and his friends," Gomez said.
He was separated from the rest of his group and never seen again, until his body was found in nearby Punta Sam, just a few miles from Cancun. Authorities say he was strangled.
Now his family is hoping for justice and trying to find the finances to fly their loved one home.
Prosecutors have detained the owner of a bar and five workers where Taylor was seen the night before he was killed.
