LAKE CITY, Fla. -- A man is facing drug and battery charges after he allegedly was found in possession of meth and marijuana and later hit his ex-girlfriend.
According to a release from Lake City Police Department Assistant Public Information Officer Mike Lee, Brandon Lee Turner, 25, is charged with:
-Resisting arrest without violence
-Possession of drug equipment (2 counts)
-Possession of marijuana
-Sell/manufacture/deliver a controlled substance
-Possession of a controlled substance
-Battery (Domestic violence)
Turner was found by an LCPD officer unresponsive under sheets in a bed at the Gateway Inn on Tuesday afternoon.
He woke up and was told he needed to leave the hotel or re-check in. Turner was questioned when police found items such as a propane tank, a bag with coffee filters and a clear jar with liquid inside.
Turner told police the items weren't his and ran through the parking lot, disrobing and dropping items in the process, the release detailed.
The items dropped by Turner and items later found by police at the Gateway Inn -- including hypodermic needles, a Pyrex dish and a white powder substance -- tested positive for methamphetamine.
Around 11 p.m., police responded to a domestic violence disturbance, also involving Turner. Police found that Turner waited for his ex-girlfriend outside of her work, followed her while asking her for a place to stay, and then struck her in the back of her head repeatedly when she tried to avoid him.
Police also found that Turner's ex-girlfriend, who was paying for his room at the Gateway Inn and is the father of her child, had a healing black eye that Turner allegedly caused days earlier.
Turner was transported to the Columbia County Jail and is being held on a $15,000 bond.
