ORLANDO, Fla. — Two Lake Mary residents who were arrested on suspicion of targeting and hacking personal information of celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Ashton Kutcher and others were sentenced Friday.
Luis Flores, Jr., 19, and his mother, Kyah Green, 41, were arrested in August on federal charges. Flores pleaded guilty in October and has been sentenced to three and a half years in federal prison for credit card fraud and aggravated identity theft. The court also entered a money judgment for $16,802.
Green pleaded guilty to covering up Flores' crimes and was sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to pay restitution of the same amount for ATM withdrawals she took out of a bank account in which Flores had accrued more than $71,000, according to authorities.
According to court documents, Flores got the money in his account by making fraudulent wire transfers from celebrity bank accounts. The documents say he originally started out by depositing paychecks from his co-workers into his own account before getting fired. He was arrested in March 2013.
The official report from August said Flores and Green obtained the information of Kim Kardashian, her mother Kris Jenner, Paris Hilton and others.
Investigators also said that when they searched the pair's home computer, they found the personal information of first lady Michelle Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Beyonce Knowles and more.
