LAKE CITY, Fla. -- A woman who allegedly pinned her husband between two cars, pistol whipped him, then shot him in the thigh turned herself in Wednesday night.
Ruby L. Sheppard, 33, reportedly tried to run husband Anthony L. Sheppard, 43, over with a car on Monday night, according to a release from Lake City Police Department Public Information Officer Craig Strickland.
According to the press release, Anthony Sheppard was at Annie Mattox Park with family and friends for Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebrations when Ruby Sheppard spotted him and pinned him between her 2004 Cadillac and another vehicle.
Ruby Sheppard got out of her vehicle and began arguing with Anthony Sheppard, Strickland said. She began to "pistol-whip" him on his upper body.
The Sheppards' son Anthony, 21, tried to stop the fight, at which point Ruby Sheppard pointed the gun at him. The elder Anthony Sheppard pushed his son out of the way and was shot in the thigh by Ruby Sheppard, Strickland said.
The elder Anthony Sheppard was taken to Shands at Lake Shore Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Ruby Sheppard drove back to her house after the incident on Monday night. She turned herself into the Columbia County Detention Center without incident, Strickland said. She is being held on two counts of aggravated assault and one count of attempted murder with no bond.
