JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office arrested an Atlantic Coast High School teacher Friday afternoon on charges she had a sexual relationship with a student.

Friday officers met with the underage victim at the school. The student told police 23-year-old Danielle Reed, an English teacher at the school, had both oral sex and sexual intercourse with the student on more than one occasion, according to an arrest report from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. The student told police the sexual relationship lasted from March 1 to June 15, 2012.

The JSO report did not explicitly state that the victim was a student, however, ACHS head football coach Kevin Sullivan told First Coast News that staff members were told that the victim was a student. He said the victim was not a football player.

The victim told police they and Reed planned to stay the night together but knew the student's mother would not allow it. The student, the report says, then created a fake friend named "Josh" for the student to pretend to stay the night with.

The report said Reed came over to the student's home with a black lab named Dexter and met the student's mother, pretending to be "Josh's" mom.

The student's mother then let her child leave with Reed. The report said the student admitted to telling their mother about the sexual relationship about a month ago.

When police interviewed the student's mother about the inappropriate relationship with Reed, the mother gave the same story about "Josh's" mom coming with a black lab named Dexter to pick her child up to stay the night.

The student's mother told police, according to the report, that they admitted the sexual relationship to her a couple of months ago.

Detectives brought Danielle Reed to the Police Memorial Building to be interviewed. Once there, they asked her about where she lives, where used to live and if she lived with anyone.

The report said Reed told police she lived alone, with the exception of a black lab named Dexter.

Police arrested Reed, charging her with two counts of sexual battery on a victim older than 12 but under 18. She is being held in the Duval Country Pretrial Detention Facility on $150,003 bond. Her next court date is scheduled for December 3.

Jill Johnson, spokesperson for Duval Count Schools said Reed was hired August 17, 2011 as an English teacher at Atlantic Coast High School.

Nikolai Vitti, Superintendent of Duval County Schools, released the following statement:

"I am deeply troubled by the allegations of sexual misconduct by a teacher. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the alleged victim. This behavior is not representative of the more than 8,000 teachers in our classrooms who are positive role models for our students."

Johnson said Superintendent Vitti will be recommending Reed be suspended without pay pending termination at the December 4 School Board meeting.
