JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Time is running out to find a new pet at the Mega Pet Adoption Event held at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds this weekend.

More than 900 pets were adopted out as of Saturday night, according to figures provided by First Coast No More Homeless Pets. The non-profit group said that's a two-day record.

FCNMHP hosts the event as part of its goal to make the First Coast a no-kill community.

You can help a cat or dog find a new home for just $25. That fee includes spaying and neutering, microchips, vaccines and city licenses. Adoptions are free for service members with military ID.

The event runs until 6 p.m. Sunday.
