JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- In just days, 15 police officers and 15 firefighters from Northeast Florida will step in the ring for Guns N' Hoses. The event - in it's 16th year, raises money for a list of charities. One of them is the Five Star Veterans Center.

The center provides housing, meals and a chance for veterans, who are suffering, to get back on their feet.

In 2013, the FOP donated $10,000 to Five Star. That money was from funds raised at Guns N' Hoses.

"Whenever we get that amount, that's about two-thirds of my monthly operating expenses," said Col. Len Loving the director of the center.

"It is very helpful," he said.

The center, with the help of Home Depot added a new wing for veterans to live. However, there's no money to operate it.

"Nothing would make me happier than to go ahead and fill up this wing," Col. Loving said.

He's hoping Guns N' Hoses helps make that possible.
