A crying 4-year-old boy was found standing next to Canaveral Groves Boulevard at 1:05 a.m. Sunday, the Brevard County Sheriff's Office reported.

The distraught child — who had somehow wandered away from home — was wearing soiled clothes and had no shoes.

Corrections deputies provided the child clean clothing and food, and a K-9 bloodhound helped calm the child down. Cocoa Police Department personnel provided stuffed animals.

After deputies searched surrounding neighborhoods, the child's family was located about three hours later. The boy had wandered from the home after family members had gone to bed, and no charges are pending.
