A Seminole County High School football coach was arrested after deputies say he had sex with a minor.
According to a report from the Seminole County Sheriff's Office, William Nordin, 25, of Oviedo was investigated after a report from the Florida Safe Families Network indicated that the man was having inappropriate communication with multiple students at Hagerty High School.
After interviewing one of the alleged victims, a 17-year-old girl, deputies were told the girl had sex with the coach on three different occasions at his Oviedo home in the Riverwind apartment complex. The incidents are believed to have happened over the past two months, the report states.
Deputies also interviewed Nordin, who did not disclose that any sexual relations had occurred between him and the minor, the report states.
Deputies arrested Nordin on two counts of unlawful sexual contact with a minor. He was booked into the John E. Polk Correctional Facility, but bonded out early this morning.
Outside of his involvement as a football coach, Nordin is also an ESE teacher at the school.
"He was a paraprofessional at Hagerty [High School] that supervised virtual courses and also handled in-school suspensions," said SCPS Communications Officer Michael Lawrence. "His employee contract ended, hence he wasn't being retained for the next school year."
Nordin was hired in July 2012 as an assistant football coach and was later hired as a paraprofessional in September 2013, Lawrence said.
"We would still flag him in our HR system as if he were terminated to ensure he didn't return and also flag in terms of any potential future references," he said. "As a parapro, he did not possess a teaching certification license."
The incident is still under investigation and deputies are asking that if anyone has information about Nordin's relationship or additional students that may be involved, to please contact the SCSO at 407-665-6650.
