STATESBORO, Ga. (AP) - A high school principal in Statesboro has been charged with failing to report suspected child abuse.
Police arrested the principal of Statesboro High School, Marty Waters, on Friday as they investigate allegations that two coaches sexually abused 16-year-old girls.
The Statesboro Herald reports that Waters was charged with a misdemeanor count of failing to report child abuse. He was released from the Bulloch County Jail on $2,000 bond.
A woman who answered the phone at Waters' home said the principal was unable to discuss the case and did not have an attorney.
Detectives said the principal learned as early as March of allegations that a coach may have abused a student. Police say the principal did not report the allegation within the required time period.
