ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Six divers were rescued by the Coast Guard and other crews after their boat sank Saturday near Clearwater.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg got the distress call about the sinking 24-foot fishing boat around 11:40 a.m. from a good Samaritan.
Coast Guard crews pulled five people from the water and FWC and Pasco County Sheriff's Office marine units pulled one other person in. The sunken vessel was salvaged by Sea Tow.
"This case highlights our excellent partnerships with local rescue units," said Senior Chief Petty Officer Raymond Burke, a search and rescue coordinator at the sector.
