JACKSONVILLE, FLA-- It is Wednesday, so that means it is time for our Teacher of the Week! This week we are spotlighting Maxine Bergman at Mandarin Middle School. She has been teaching for 29 years and works with students in the area of language arts.

She says teaching is a passion and she loves her students. Mrs. Bergman was the organizer behind the One Spark creation "Good on the Go". The idea is to take children around on a bus to different locations to volunteer and help the community and teach them a love of volunteering early in life.

"My goal is that when they are in high school they say, you know what, when I was in middle school in went to Ronald McDonald House and we were outside playing with the siblings of the kids that were really sick and it was so much fun. Let's go do that," explains Mrs. Bergman.

Her students say she always brings creativity and fun into their lesson each week. So for her dedication to teaching and desire to get students involved in the community, Maxine Bergman is our Teacher of the Week!
