PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- A Port Charlotte woman was arrested Friday after deputies say she sold synthetic drugs to undercover officers at her business.
Carolina Bilbao Bueno, 37, is charged with three counts of the sale of synthetic cannabinoids, four counts of possession of synthetic cannabinoids and three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to reports, deputies last May made personal contact with representatives of Port Tobacco, located at 2150 Tamiami Trl. Unit 2 in Port Charlotte, to make sure they were aware of changes in state law concerning synthetic drugs that are commonly labeled as incense, bath salts or herbal potpourri.
However, on three different occasions earlier this month, undercover detectives were able to purchase pre-packaged substances from Bueno. In each of the three instances, the contents of the packages tested positive as being synthetic cannabinoids.
Detectives then obtained a search warrant for the business and located 180 individual packages of synthetic cannabinoids at the business. Nearly $20,000 in cash was seized, including a $50 bill that had been used earlier that day during an undercover purchase.
Bueno has been released on $42,500 bond.
