JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville Jaguars wide-receiver Justin Blackmon was involved in an early Saturday morning crash.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the rear tire on Blackmon's 2009 GMC Denali blew-out and caused him to lose control on Interstate 295.

The SUV left the road, collided with a guardrail and came to rest in a ditch near Pulaski Road around 3:30 a.m.

Alcohol was not involved in the crash and Blackmon, 24, was not injured, according to FHP. Blackmon was wearing his seat belt.

The troubled Jaguars wide-out was arrested for driving under the influence in 2010 and 2012 and remains under suspension because of a third violation of the NFL's substance and abuse policy. He missed eight games during the 2012 season.

FHP confirmed to the Florida Times-Union that the Jaguars wide-receiver was the same Justin Blackmon involved in the crash.

The SUV suffered $8,000 in damage.

Blackmon was charged with careless driving.

UPDATE: FHP will not charge Blackmon with careless driving.

FHP issued this statement to the media: A single vehicle traffic crash was reported earlier today which involved Mr. Justin Blackmon, wide receiver for the Jacksonville Jaguars organization. The initial press release indicted that Mr. Blackmon was charged for Careless Driving in this case. As an agency policy, this open investigation was reviewed by supervisory personnel. It has been determined that charges were not applicable in this case in regards to the driving patterns of Mr. Blackmon. Therefore, the charge of Careless Driving will be rescinded pursuant to Florida Highway Patrol policy and/or Florida Statutes.
