BRADFORD COUNTY, Fla. - A former Bradford County Corrections Officer has been rearrested on additional charges from an ongoing investigation.
During a search of Robert Melton's cellphone, computers and other items from a warrant served on January 10, detectives found probable cause for new charges.
The suspect was out on bail and located at about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday by Deputies with BCSO and agents with Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Melton faces an additional 12 charges that include promoting or distributing sexual performance by a child and 11 counts of possession of child pornography.
The Bradford County Sheriff's Office was notified of the investigation into Melton by the FDLE. The FDLE said previously they received information indicating Melton had committed capital sexual battery.
Melton was hired as a corrections officer in 2007 under a previous administration, according to BCSO. BCSO says Melton resigned with a handwritten note during his first arrest.
For security purposes Melton at an undisclosed correctional facility. He is held on a total bond of $1.2 million.
