MARION, Fla. - A Marion County teacher is accused of helping hide a 15-year-old girl after she ran away from home.

Deputies said 54-year-old Duane Ernest Adams, a teacher at Francis Marion Military Academy, took the child from the school on Friday and let her stay at his apartment when she was supposed to be in school.

Adams is also accused of taking the teen to a Daytona Beach motel, where they stayed for two nights.

Deputies said the pair then traveled to a cabin in Ocala, where he rented a cabin for the girl for four days. It is unclear if Adams stayed at the cabin with the teen.

He denied inappropriate physical contact with the child and was arrested on charges of interference with child custody.

The teen was found at the Steak N' Shake in the 3000 block of Southwest College Road in Ocala. She was returned to her parents.
