JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A controversial battle over rezoning in Mandarin comesto a head.
For nearly four hours at the Jacksonville City Council meeting Tuesdaynight, council and community members went back and forth about allowing retailshops where some neighbors argue they don't belong.
The corner of Oak Bluff Lane and San Jose Boulevard was at the center of thedebate. Restaurants, including Chick-fil-A, are proposed to be a part of a newdevelopment at the site.
Neighbors are worry about traffic, saying the area will become too congested. In the end, the council voted 18-to-1 in favor of rezoning the area; with a few conditions that include only allowing the Chick-fil-A's drive-thruto be located on the Southside and the restaurants can open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
