JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police responded to a shooting in the San Pablo area late Monday night.

Police responded to James Conrad, 28, who was shot in the abdomen by an unknown suspect around 10:15 p.m. in the 13900 block of Nashua Drive, according to a police report form the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. Conrad was transported to UF Health Jacksonville in with life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses on scene told police two people, a male and a female had come to Conrad's door and were hanging out on his porch prior to the shooting. According to the police report, Conrad claimed he was confronted by the pair and was shot.

A black Smith and Wesson was later found lying in the middle of Nashua Drive.

An investigation in underway.
