JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The driver of a sports car was ejected in a deadly early morning crash, pinning him under his own car.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to the crash at 1:50 a.m. Tuesday in the 9200 block of 5th Avenue.

When police arrived on scene in the Riverview area of the Northside, they found a vehicle over turned and Yancey R. Hairston pinned underneath, according to JSO Sgt. J.M. Paris. Jacksonville Fire and Rescue responded and were able to lift the sports coupe off the victim. Hairston, 20, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

According to a release from JSO, Hairston was driving his sports car travelling Northeast on Belvedere Street and attempted to make a left turn onto 5th Avenue. Hairston failed to negotiate the turn and the front of the vehicle struck a culvert in a ditch and overturned. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to JSO.

The investigation is ongoing.
