PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. - A 25-year-old man has been arrested for drug possession and distribution following a traffic stop.

Putnam County Sheriff's Office Patrol Sergeant Thomas Swart received a tip from a narcotics detective that a driver of a light green Sebring had what appeared to be illegal drugs in his possession and was leaving the Kangaroo located at Horse Landing and Highway 17 on Friday, January 10, around 1:10 p.m.

Sergeant Swart conducted a traffic stop after observing a passenger not wearing his seat belt. According to a PCSO press release, Swart smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle.

During the investigation a gram sized bag of cocaine, 19 grams of marijuana and 17 Xanax pills were found.

Sheriff Jeff Hardy said, "This arrest is an excellent example of the Drug Unit and Uniformed Patrol working hand in hand to remove drugs from the streets of our County."

The driver, Bryan Sharper, was charged with counts of possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug equipment and two counts of the distribution of amphetamines. Sharper was released from the Putnam County Jail on a $5,520 bond.
