ORLANDO, Fla. -- A shooting at an Orange County ATM turned out to be a sexual encounter gone wrong, according to deputies.
Deputies said the gunman turned the gun on his victim and demanded he withdraw cash from the ATM at the SunTrust along Pine Hills Road and Colonial Drive.
The incident, originally called in as an attempted carjacking and robbery, happened at early Monday morning.
According to officials, 18-year-old Dasmine Bell met the shooting suspect online and agreed to a sexual encounter in the parking lot of the bank. When he pulled up, the shooter pulled out a gun and demanded cash.
Bell was shot when he tried to run away, officials said. He continued to run down Colonial Drive where he used a phone at this Chevron gas station to call police. He was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Detectives continue to search for the suspect who is described as a man standing between 6 foot 1 and 6 foot 3 inches tall with an average build. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and red gym shorts.
Detectives said they hope to review the surveillance video from the bank for clues.
