JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --Police are investigating a shooting on the Westside late Saturday night.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a person shot in an area between Crystal Street and Leland Street around 10:30 p.m., according to JSO. Officers responded and combed the area, but did not find a victim during their search.

About 30 minutes later a male victim walked into UF Health Jacksonville with a gunshot wound to the hip. According to JSO, a witness claimed the victim was talking to her in the 300 block of Crystal Street while she and their two children were sitting in a car. An unknown man approached the group and allegedly fired multiple rounds, hitting the male victim and the car before fleeing. The witness and two children were not injured, according to JSO.

An investigation is ongoing and suspect details are unknown at this point.
