ST JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- A St. Johns County Sheriff's Deputy got a surprise when his patrol car was rear-ended early Sunday morning.
Deputy Glenn Lappe, 48, was stopped in his 2009 Chevrolet Impala on the side of State Road 13 around 2:23 a.m.
Priscilla Gipson, 24, saw the cruiser and tried to hit the breaks on her 2002 Toyota Camry, but according to FHP, she did not stop in time.
She slammed into the back of Lappe's cruiser and caused $5,000 in damage, according to FHP.
Both drivers were taken to Memorial hospital with minor injuries.
According to FHP, they were treated and released.
The deputy was not wearing his seat belt, according to FHP.
