JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- On Saturday a small group including former Florida senator Nan Rich honored the 26 victims killed in Newtown last year.

The group gathered at the Friendship Fountain at 1 p.m. for a communal bell ringing to honor the 26 victims killed at Sandy Hook Elementary December 14, 2012.

The event was part of more than 50 "No More Silence" events in 35 states.

The Florida events were co-sponsored by Mayors Against Illegal Guns and Organizing For Action.

Mom's Demand Action, which was founded one day after the tragedy, headed the event. MDA was founded one day after the mass shooting in Newtown.
