JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The music and the dancing is part of what makes the holiday season so magical!

It is the classic Nutcracker ballet.

"There is a lot of hard work and a lot of rehearsing that goes into this, but it is a lot of fun," said 14-year-old Randi Alt.

Alt said she is a little nervous dancing the lead role of Clara for the Community Nutcracker Ballet. But you would never know it watching every graceful movement!

"I remember when I was little I used to look up to Clara and now I am her, it is great," Alt said.

She and the rest of the 250 local performers have been rehearsing since Labor Day.

"It is everything from 9-year-old mice to a gentlemen in his 80s," said board member Kris Trotter.

There are also two professional guest performers as well.

And all that practice is paying off. Their first performance was for a group of local school children who were memorized

"It is just beautiful," Trotter said. "And the excitement on the children's faces on stage and off stage is beautiful thing."

And another beautiful thing about this performance? The money raised from tickets goes towards supporting local North Florida children's charities.

So point your toes, put on a smile and enjoy one of the best traditions of the holiday season!

There are still some tickets left for the performances on Friday and Saturday. Just call the Florida Theatre so you can come out and see the Nutcracker.
