Dubai, United Arab Emirates (SportsNetwork.com) - World No. 3 Stacy Lewis fired a 7-under 65 on Thursday to grab a 1-stroke lead after two rounds of the Dubai Ladies Masters.
Lewis, who was three strokes off the first-round lead, finished 36 holes at 9- under-par 135 on the Emirates Golf Course.
Pernilla Lindberg carded a 3-under 69, but dipped into second place a minus-8. Lindberg shared the first-round lead with Carlota Ciganda and Mireia Prat.
Ciganda posted a 2-under 70 and she fell into third place at 7-under 137. Pornanong Phatlum, who played alongside Lewis for the first two rounds, also carded a 70 and is alone in fourth at minus-6.
Shanshan Feng fired a 5-under 67 to soar into a tie for 12th at 1-under 143. Feng, the fourth-ranked player in the world, and Lewis are the only two players ranked in the top-10 in the world competing this week. Among those Feng is tied with is Prat, who struggled to a 4-over 76 in round two.
Lewis posted back-to-back birdies at the second and third. She moved to minus-5 with a birdie at the par-4 sixth. After a pair of pars, Lewis poured in four birdies in a 5-hole span from the ninth to soar to minus-9.
The 28-year-old tripped to a bogey at the 15th, but she came back with a birdie on the par-4 17th. Lewis parred the last to lead Lindberg by one after two rounds.
