ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- A student was arrested at St. Augustine High School Wednesday after police found a gun intheir backpack.

A concerned student alerted a faculty member after discovering the teen may have a gun, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies approached the student and discovered a gun in the juvenile's bag under a desk.

The juvenile was arrested and charged with felony possession of a firearm on a school campus, according to police.

The firearm was never displayed, according to investigators, and no threats were made to students or staff.

According to police, the juvenile was transported to the St. Johns County Jail without further incident and the investigation is continuing.
