JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Lisa Marie Amalfitano, 29, was killed in a car vs. dump truck crash early Wednesday morning, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 2:45 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Philips Highway near Race Track Road.

Sgt. Dylan Bryan with Florida Highway Patrol said the crash might be the result of Amalfitano's Dodge Magnum traveling too fast.

Bryan said Amalfitano rear-ended the dump truck, driven by 29-year-old Fernando Morales Alonso, which caused the Magnum to burst into flames.

Sgt. Bryan said Alonso stopped and tried to save Amalfitano, but could not.

Amalfitano was not able to get out of the Dodge and was pronounced dead at the scene and leaves behind two children.

All lanes of Philips Hwy at Race Track Road were closed following the crash. Traffic was back to normal by 8:15 a.m.
