YULEE, Fla. -- A traffic stop and chase Monday morning leads to the arrest of a 42-year-old man.

Atabout 8:15 a.m., deputies with the Nassau County Sheriff's Officespotted a possible stolen 2001 Dodge van from Folkston, Georgia, nearthe Pine Terrace Apartments in Callahan, Florida. The deputies noticedthe van had a Florida tag that was reported stolen from Hilliard earlier inthe morning.

According to a NCSO press release, the deputies performed a traffic stop, but the driver fled south on U.S. 1 into Duval County.

Afterbeing pursued for about five miles, the driver stopped and surrenderedat the American Auctions facility on U.S. 1 in Jacksonville.

Thedeputies identified the driver as Randall Rockwell Woodard, who was wantedfor the attempted bank robbery of the Southeastern Bank located at 15885County Road 108 in Hilliard, Florida on Nov. 13.

Woodard allegedly said hewas intending to rob a Wells Fargo Bank in Callahan, Florida before beingstopped by the deputies. He also allegedly admitted to robbing theSoutheastern Bank in Hilliard, along with three other banks.

Woodardis charged with outstanding robbery warrant, fleeing and attempting toelude a law enforcement officer and several traffic infractions. He alsofaces pending charges of burglary to auto and theft for the offenses inHilliard and grand theft auto from Georgia authorities.
