JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville City Council began meeting at 1 p.m. today to discuss pledging $43 million in city dollars for upgrades to EverBank Field.

The $63 million total cost would include $20 million from Jaguars' owner Shad Khan to build bigger scoreboards and upgrade fan amenities in the North End Zone.

The remainder would come from city convention tax dollars (levied on hotel guests) and money raised through the sale of bonds.

Council members have previously raised questions about the team's long term commitment to Jacksonville, who would get revenue from naming rights and scoreboard advertisements and how the city will pay for other stadium maintenance.
