We gave a local Chef Dennis Chan owner of Blue Bamboo, $10 to spend at a dollar store to buy enough ingredients to make a meal to feed a family of four. Watch the story to see how he pulled it off. Below are the recipes he made.
Pork Sausage Love Letters with Green Pea Cream Sauce
2 cups Flour
2 TBS Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Blend in food processor until it forms a ball. Knead by hand for 2 minutes. Let it rest for 30 minutes. Roll pasta into 3 inch by 3 inch squares and fold into little envelopes
Half Pound Ground Pork Sausage
Half Cup Frozen Peas
After pasta is filled let set and rest until water boils.
Add to boiled water on the stove.
Salt and Pepper to taste
2 Cups peas
2 cups milk
Purée then strain and heat gently just before boiling when ready to serve
1 Pint Whole Milk
Half Bag Nestle Quick about 3 TBS
Bring Milk to Boil
Add Nestle and Stir
Take off heat and slowly wisk into egg yolks. Strain into ramekins. Place on baking sheet and add hot water bath. Cover and bake 45 minutes on 325.
When done cool. Top with sugar and use brûlée torch
Pot de creme:
Same as above without using torch. Serve right away.
It's like a fancy warm pudding.
